Singing My Way

For a few years, I’ve been singing my heart out at karaoke. Cute blue-haired Carli hosts it. Participants get to sing one or up to three songs during the night. We also listen to other singers, some great, some bearable. I think I sing fairly well. I have a mini fan base who cheer me on.

Carli and I in the Black Sheep (I’m actually taller than she is!)

Thought I’d list the songs I’ve sung or want to (mostly the former). (If you’ve seen this post before, I’m just updating the list with some recent ones.)

(And here I am doing it again at the end of January 2023. My last song there, “Please Send me Someone to Love,” was my prayer and someone else’s too. Oh, Lord, may our prayers be answered!)

(Back again at Spring Equinox of ’23. More songs were added, some celebrating elation, some moaning about its loss.

Singing activates our brains and hearts like nothing else. It takes some daring and confidence to go ahead. Fortunately, the words and timing are on the screen. Only the background music plays; it’s up to the singer to supply the main melody. There’s a joy in singing out, honoring the songs I like (from the 30s up to the current ones) with my attempts.

See if you recognize these. Here’s my list:

Well, with a playlist like that, you could sing All Night Long! (which I didn’t see on the list)
